Florida woos tech talent

College students, Florida is honored that you grace our beaches, hotels and restaurants for spring break.

But, how about showing some real love and hanging with us year-round?

Well, that's the mantra tech officials are chanting as they woo the best talent from across the country.

This week, career center directors from more than 70 universities descended here for a speed-dating-like event at the Tampa Convention Center. The second annual career expo, organized by the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, paired university officials from prestigious colleges such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cornell University with Florida companies fishing for talent.

"I think it's an educational issue," said Mark Savage, director of engineering and cooperative education and career services at Cornell.

Stanford has been the Titans' opening weekend opponent for the last nine years straight (and 18 of the last 19 years), but this year, for the first time since 1998, the Titans opened the season with a weekend series with another opponent.

Hillary tries to jump start losing effort

Clearly the wheels are coming off the wagon of her once, "well oiled" political machine. For years now, she's been arrogantly running as the presumptive nominee and has gotten quite comfortable in that role. Now that real voters (particularly the independents) are starting to actually take notice and cast real ballots, she's quite naturally pissed that some young "upstarts" are polling better than she is. After all, it IS "her turn", right?

Americans are also tired of political dynasties. First it was the Bushes and then the Clintons and then the Bushes again. We all know where the Bush dynasty has now led. And, no matter what Hillary says or does, people will always associate her with her philandering President husband.

What's more, the Bush/Clinton dynasty now stretches back WELL before entire generations of new voters were born.

What's a Kabbalah Wedding?

Rumors are flying that actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher will tie the knot in a "kabbalah ceremony" as part of their mysticism-themed pilgrimage to Tel Aviv next week in honor of the Jewish new year. But what would a kabbalah wedding ceremony be like?

Here's what we know for sure. Though Kabbalistic customs, practices, and beliefs have influenced traditional Judaism over the centuries, Kabbalah is not a "faith," or even a "cult religion," no matter what the gossip columnists might write. Though Kabbalists wrote many Jewish prayers and hymns, there is no specifically Kabbalistic liturgy.

Kabbalah (the Hebrew word for "tradition" or "received") refers to a body of esoteric, mystical Jewish teachings that flowered in medieval Provence and Germany, but whose roots extend back to Biblical times, and which continues to evolve--in a staggering variety of manifestations--today.

10 Surefire Ways To Get Yourself Into Major Debt And Get Your Home ...

If you can't pay the credit card bills, simply withdraw some cash out of the one credit card you still have credit on and pay the bills with that. Don't forget to enjoy the bank charge for withdrawing the cash too!

Don't cut the cards up, just use them to the max, baby!

Ignore all letters which look like that may be from lenders falling through your letter box. They will only want money, and you don't have that. Find yourself a sandpit and bury your head in it!

If you really want to get repossessed, then make no attempt whatsoever to contact the creditors. This could put you in danger of working out a solution to the problem.

Pack your bags and wait for them to come and evict you.

GETTING READY FOR THE WINTER ROADS 11/13

Well as the temperatures continue to drop and the forecast more commonly includes flakes of snow.. my heart starts to race thinking about driving on the winter roads. I don't know about you, but although I've lived in Wisconsin all my life.. I still get extremely nervous confronting freezing rain, black ice and white-outs.

Salsero Tito Nieves and R&B singer Brian McKnight share a Bronx stage

Music lovers of both groups have a chance to come together Saturday for a doubleheader of great romantic salsa and R&B.

Veteran icons Tito Nieves and Brian McKnight will share the Lehman Center stage in a Valentine-themed concert billed as "only for lovers."

"R&B was one of the first types of music I listened to," says Nieves, 49, who was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn. "[Back in the early '70s] there were only a couple of Latin stations in New York, and the rest played a lot of R&B."

Nieves, who lives in Orlando with his wife and children, will showcase the highlights of a career spanning more than 30 years and as many records.

It will be "a walk through my artistic career, to make the audience enjoy themselves a little," said Nieves, whose 1997 hit "I Like It Like That" became a runaway crossover success.
