| Festival of the Arts Boca's stronger second year
The first Festival of the Arts Boca sprang up unexpectedly and on short notice at the peak of last year's cultural season, but instantly established itself as an important — and impressive — addition to the artistic landscape. There were a few first-time growing pains, admits festival chairman Charles Siemon, though nothing that seriously blunted the festival's momentum once it got under way last March. Those lessons have been put to use to prevent hassles over the next two weeks, as the second annual festival takes over the Mizner Park midtown entertainment district. Behind the festival's quick impact is the partnership between the national arts management agency IMG Artists and Mizner Park's Centre for the Arts, which operates the Count de Hoernle Amphitheatre (capable of hosting audiences over 4,000) and the adjacent 44,000 square-foot Boca Raton Museum of Art.
On Native Ground
Give Arab nations the democracy that President Bush loves to talk about and they will elect anti-Israel, anti-U.S. candidates. And when you are offered no chance to achieve your goals through diplomacy, force is the only option left. When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail. The United States is the only country with the power and the moral prestige to rein in Israel and put an end to the fighting - or, at least it was, until we squandered both these things with our invasion of Iraq and the squalid way we have conducted the so-called war on terror. As the self-proclaimed last superpower, the United States thought it could go it alone in the world and impose its will through force. But this nation's ability to use force has been reduced by our commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Steve and Mia: Her sexenomics supply doesn't = his demand
Steve is a 50-something married man who's been around the block. Mia is a 20-something single immersed in the Center City dating scene. They may not agree, but they have plenty of answers. If you'd like an answer to your romantic troubles, e-mail them at S&M@phillynews.com or write: S&M c/o Daily News, Box 7788, Philadelphia, PA 19101. Q: I am in my late 30s and have been married for more than 10 years. My wife and I are very Catholic and do not use birth control; we use the rhythm method. That translates into me having to go more than a week without sex. I tend to have nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) when I am deprived of sex. Is it normal for somebody in my age bracket to still have wet dreams? Could it be some medical issue? Steve: Yes and no. Sex researcher Alfred Kinsey found nocturnal emissions common among men well into their 50s and even in some patients in their 80s.
City manager tells candidate: Bonita can’t control illegal ...
The other mayoral candidates agree it is part of Price's job to be available to Bonita residents with information about the city. If Fulker went to Price to discuss his campaign issues, the city manager is completely in the right talking about the Bonita approach to those issues. “As a resource of the city, Gary should make himself available, and he does a good job of that," Nelson said. “It really only gets to the point (of crossing the line) if he makes some kind of public statement." The city staff — Price, in particular — has always done a good job of giving the same information out to candidates as it does to the incumbents they run against, he said. Nelson said all the employees have also done an excellent job in dealing with the potentially awkward situation of incumbents, such as himself and Arend, in the same race.
VIP - KELLER: Y... 2... Sequel - Can Jericho live up to the hype and ...
Chris Jericho got the best type of return anyone could ask for. He received weeks of build - up (or was it months?) with mysterious, cryptic videos. He walked onto the stage with a massive special effects show with a new video, remixed music, and plenty of time to soak up cheers. He also happened to be immediately booked against the World Champion and top heel, Randy Orton. Can Jericho live up to the hype? Part of that he has control over, part of it he doesn't. There are people in high positions in WWE who aren't sold on him being a full - time top tier player to build around. There are doubts about his height, his promos, his in - ring style that some believe limits him to a second tier role with occasional visits into main events. Nobody in WWE can be picky at this point, though, with the roster depth what it is.
Lebanon vote delayed again
Lebanon's parliament failed on Friday to grasp its last chance to elect a head of state before pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud leaves office at midnight, opening a vacuum that many fear could lead to violence. Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri, a Shiite opposition leader, delayed the election for a fifth time because rival factions were deadlocked. He set a new session for Nov. 30. "To allow for more consultations to arrive at the election of a president...the session is postponed to Friday, Nov. 30," Berri said in a statement. The delay means the presidency, always held by a Maronite Christian under Lebanon's sectarian power-sharing system, will be vacant for at least a week. Unless a consensus candidate emerges soon, the country could end up saddled with competing administrations as at the end of its 1975-1990 civil war.
Spoiler Chat: Tom Dead? Kate Preggers? Ned Vindicated? Your Big Q's ...
Hey, tubers! Welcome to the last Spoiler Chat of 2007. Sigh. It flew by so fast, no? Now, here go your Q's... Yellagirl in Neche, North Dakota: Seriously, the wait to find out whether Lynette's family is dead might kill me. Can you please give me some sort of hint? How could ABC do this to us? Stupid strike!I feel your pain! Thanks to a rock-solid Desperate Housewives source, I was able to dig up what I believe to be a definitive answer (thank you, Santie Claus!), so keep reading down to the Spoiler Section below. Kiley in Washington, D.C.: OMG, why did they put Lost on Thursdays at 9?! That's when The Office and Grey's are on! My DVR only records two shows at once.
They're not real followers of Christ
People have more love for the act of sex than they do for the result. Children have become disposable if they no longer fit into our desires. Our society is self-centered and not child-centered. Christ would be appalled. Finally, war is not an act of a follower of Christ. How can a person claim to follow Christ and not love his enemies? How can a person claim to follow Christ and not turn the other cheek? How can a person claim to follow Christ and not realize that this life is forfeitable while the next is not?Christ laid down rules of behavior. They are not the Hebrew rules. They are the rules as outlined by the commandments. They have as a center, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It does not say other Christians or humans or heterosexuals or whatever class you place yourself in.

Alicia Keys - 'Like You'll Never See Me Again'
And if anything, it's probably just laziness on the part of whichever artist directors were responsible for their album cover shoots. Maybe even the same person did both. In which case never mind, eh? I realise that opening paragraph was rambling, but in my defence, I find it a struggle to find anything all that interesting to say about Alicia Keys or her music. I've never been that convinced by her. Obviously I believe that she exists, but I've never been sold on her as a concept. For all the fanfare and flag-waving, I tend to find her songs a little on the hollow side - dressed up nice and pretty, but with next to nothing on the inside - and this one really hasn't made me think otherwise. She has a knack of crafting a very pleasant sounding melody, don't get me wrong - the backing here is an acoustic waterwheel that trickles gently and inoffensively through your head.
