Teens plan boycott of Clearview Mall

The fight against a new curfew for teenagers at Clearview Mall has gone viral with more than 1,000 young people organizing themselves online and calling for a boycott of the Metairie shopping center this weekend.

Rise Against the Clearview Age Ban, or RACAB, was founded on Saturday, a day after officials at Clearview began strictly enforcing its Parental Escort Policy. Under the rule, patrons 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21-years-old when arriving at the mall on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. until closing.

"It's being too strict, too quick," said Matt Shaver, 17 of Jefferson, who set up RACAB's online group forum via the social Web site MySpace. "I want to be able to hang out with my friends that are under 16 on the weekends."

Officials said they increased security and began carding patrons last weekend to control the crowds of teens and children who congregated in the food court near the ticket booth for the mall's movie theater complex.

Who Has Britney's Best Interests in Mind?

Britney's parents Jamie and Lynne are supposedly headed to court today to voice their concerns about Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib's level of control over their daughter. If they can convince the court to create a conservatorship, they'll be able to control Britney's financial and medical decisions. On the other hand, Sam talked to Ryan Seacrest about how he feels that Britney's parents are just trying to get their hands on her money. So tell us — who do you think has Britney's best interests in mind?

Tales from the Front

Dear Cheryl: My boyfriend, Charlie is 32; I'm 26. We've been dating steadily for over two years. Neither of us has been married. The only time marriage ever came up was after we'd been dating for six months and he asked me to move in with him. I declined, saying I'd only live with someone I was married to. Since that time, I have no idea what he's thinking.

She fell for him, despite the red flags January 30, 2008

ALP planner 'a bully'

DURING his stint as a senior Wollongong town planner, Labor powerbroker Joe Scimone was a bully who made impromptu decisions to benefit his mates, the corruption watchdog has been told.

Mr Scimone, one of 14 people under investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), held a number of senior positions with Wollongong council in a 15-year association which ended last year.

The inquiry today kicked off its second week of hearings into allegations of sex-for-development and bribes at the New South Wales south coast council.

The NSW Government has been plunged into crisis following the accounts of Mr Scimone's former employment with the council, subsequent elevation to a senior NSW Government position and his ties to ministers.

Only DAV-10 likely to begin MBE course

We have not received any intimation from them so far, said Prof Kuldeep Singh.

He added that the college had made special and adequate arrangements for starting the course.

The sources added that this was the first time that a four-member inspection committee had been formed specifically for a course. The committee members had visited the three colleges and submitted three reports giving details of availability of faculty, library facilities and infrastructure.

The committee members had found that one of the colleges had, in order to show a well-stocked library, purchased hundreds of copies of the same book. Another college had not advertised for recruitment of faculty who would teach the course.

Pietersen fights lone battle

Kevin Pietersen hit a defiant half-century as England's reshuffled batting order slumped into trouble on the opening day of their final warm-up match before the start of next week's first Test.

Having previously announced Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook would open with Andrew Strauss batting at number three, Ian Bell moving up to five and Paul Collingwood dropping down to six, the new order had plenty to prove against a strong Select XI line-up.

But after being put into bat, they slumped to 96 for six at lunch with only Pietersen playing an innings of note as the Select XI exploited helpful conditions to disrupt the tourists' preparations for the start of the Test series.

England were hoping their top order could get useful batting practice ahead of the opening Test in Hamilton but instead quickly slipped into trouble with captain Vaughan suffering a second-ball duck after edging seamer Iain O'Brien behind in the second over.

Lovestruck teens run off, leave parents heartbroken

The parents of two lovelorn teenagers from the Flint area tried to keep them apart.

Instead, it's the parents who are apart from their children after the teens ran away with a family minivan, an Xbox 360 video game system and a dog named Mandy.

Five days later, the parents still haven't heard from the youths and they're worried what began as a quaint excursion could end as something different.
